Lab Vision
The Carbon-Climate-Energy Nexus lab, led by Prof. Laibao Liu, aims to accelerate climate-resilient and sustainable developments by advancing carbon neutrality. We sit at the intersection of land carbon cycle, climate change, renewable energy and data science. We combine ground observations, satellite measurements, earth system model, energy model, and data science in research ranging from the local scale to the global scale.

2025 May | Prof. Laibao Liu has been awarded the prestigious title of “HKU-100 Scholar”.
The HKU Global Professoriate Recruitment Campaign is an initiative by the University to recruit 100 exceptional academics in emerging fields, with the potential for scientific and scholarly breakthroughs. These “HKU-100” scholars are invited to bolster HKU’s thriving research agenda and enhance Hong Kong’s leading position in the region and beyond. The application criteria include substantial experience from world-renowned higher education institutions and/or research organizations outside Hong Kong, an outstanding record of achievement, and demonstrable scholarship addressing grand challenges or exciting emerging fields.
2024 July | Dr. Laibao Liu join HKU as an tenure-track assistant professor and start the Carbon-Climate-Energy Nexus lab.
